I’m Camille Thustrup. I work with individuals, couples and organisations — in Stockholm and online, in English, Swedish and French.
Therapy works best when it is built around the person in front of you rather than around a method. That conviction comes from somewhere specific: I grew up between two cultures that handle difficulty in almost opposite ways.
Between two cultures
The French side of me is direct and emotionally expressive. Feelings are said out loud, disagreement is aired rather than filed away, and a raised voice is not the end of a relationship. There is real psychological sense in that: emotions that are named are far easier to work with than emotions managed in silence, and a bond that can survive conflict is a bond in which honesty becomes possible.
The Swedish side is measured and deeply respectful. It listens before it answers, treats personal space as something to be protected, and takes other people’s limits seriously. It can also avoid conflict so carefully that the one thing which most needs saying never gets said.
Neither is complete on its own. My work lives in the space between them — enough directness to reach what actually matters, enough respect that getting there never costs you your sense of safety. That is what The Nordic French Therapist means, and it is the same principle I bring to a couple in conflict or a leadership team that has stopped speaking plainly.
“Enough directness to reach what matters. Enough respect that getting there never costs you your sense of safety.”
My background
I hold a Master’s degree in clinical psychology, specialised in depression, burnout, anxiety and trauma, completed at Utrecht University and the University of Amsterdam and awarded in 2022. Alongside it I trained in couples work and in designing and facilitating communication workshops, and my thinking is strongly informed by systems-centred theory.
My first professional role was as a psychology trainee at Growing Relations, working on relationships and group dynamics with private clients and with organisations. I founded my own practice in 2022 and have worked across all three ever since: individuals, couples, and companies.
How I work
Sessions draw on cognitive behavioural therapy (CBT) and on systems-centred thinking — the understanding that people rarely struggle in isolation. Whatever you bring will have a context around it: a relationship, a family, a team, a culture. We work with that context rather than around it.
In practice that means looking for the pattern and not only the symptom, then building strategies you can actually use — concrete, tried between sessions, and adjusted as we learn what works for you. You should leave with something you can do, not only something you have understood.
You do not need to already believe in therapy for this to be useful. Scepticism is a reasonable starting position, and usually the sign of someone who thinks carefully. Bring it with you.
Practically
I work with adults from 18, with couples, and with teams and organisations. Sessions take place in Stockholm or online, in English, Swedish or French.
Confidentiality
What you bring to a session stays between us. That is the ground everything else is built on.
The one exception is professional supervision. I discuss my work with a supervisor so that the support you receive is as considered as it can be — this is normal practice in therapy, and it exists to serve you. It only ever happens with your agreement.
My notes are taken on paper. Nothing about your therapy is stored online. They are kept in a secure place, and each client is referred to by first name only — no full name is ever attached to therapy notes.
Therapy conditions
A booked session is a specific time set aside for you, and it is held for you alone.
Cancelling or rebooking more than one week before your appointment is free of charge. With less than one week’s notice, the full fee is charged, and so is a session that is not attended.
This is not there to catch anyone out. My office and my other clients’ appointments are all scheduled around a clear timetable, and a week is roughly what it takes to offer a freed-up time to someone else who needs it.
If you need help right now
Therapy is a planned process, not an emergency service. I am not available for urgent support between sessions, and working with me does not replace psychiatric or medical care.
If you are in immediate danger, or if you are thinking of ending your life, call 112.
